Military Ministry
A ministry developed by Campus Crusade, Military Ministry provides the opportunity, privilege, and responsibility to assist chaplains and commanders in caring for the spiritual well-being of troops and their families. We do this in many ways, but all focus on the gospel because “faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God.”
We seek to help every troop, every leader, every family member hear and receive the life saving message about Jesus. Identifying with Paul in the book of Romans, our “heart’s desire and earnest prayer to God is that they (military men, women, and families) might be saved.” Only in this way will they be truly ready, spiritually ready, to face the challenges which will certainly come their way.
Volunteers for this ministry come from many different churches and we encourage participation for those who live in the Hampton Roads area to prepare the spiritual packages provided for troops and chaplains.
Military ministry's website is www.militaryministry.org. If you have any questions, the local contact at Rivers Cross for this ministry is DJ Stanhope.
Support For Our Military
You can support out our military in these ways:
- Volunteering with Military Ministry above
- Praying for our military as part of a team of intercessors with names of actual military personnel (non-deployed) daily or weekly according to your availability.
- Praying for our military who are deployed. This requires that you pray at least every other day, but preferably daily for a list of personnel and or their families. (There will be some training required for this ministry)
- Practical support for local families (Hampton Roads) whose spouses are deployed and who need some kind of practical support. Handi-man services auto maintenance or any way that we can as a church provide help. Where we can’t help we will try to find help.
